Do You Have a Thorn in Your Flesh?
Key Verse:
📖 “But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9
The Burden That Won’t Go Away
Have you ever prayed for something to be removed from your life, yet it remains? A struggle, a weakness, a hardship that won’t seem to go away? You’re not alone. Even the apostle Paul faced this.
In 2 Corinthians 12:7-10, Paul speaks of a “thorn in the flesh”, a trial that tormented him. He pleaded with God three times to take it away, but God answered differently:
💬 “My grace is sufficient for you.”
God did not remove Paul’s thorn, but instead, He gave Paul something even greater—His sustaining grace.
What is Your Thorn?
Your “thorn” might be:
- A physical struggle – health issues, chronic pain, or weakness.
- An emotional burden – anxiety, depression, or fear.
- A difficult relationship – a person who challenges your patience.
- A spiritual struggle – doubt, temptation, or discouragement.
Whatever it is, it serves a purpose. It keeps us humble, dependent on God, and strengthens our faith.
God’s Strength in Your Weakness
Instead of taking away Paul’s struggle, God empowered him through it.
This means:
✔ You are not alone in your struggle – God is walking with you.
✔ Your weakness is an opportunity for God’s power – He shines through your struggles.
✔ God’s grace is enough – You may feel weak, but His strength carries you through.
A New Perspective on Pain
Sometimes, we see suffering as a punishment or an obstacle, but what if it’s a platform for God’s power?
Instead of asking, “Why, God?”
We can ask, “How can this bring You glory?”
Paul realized that his thorn was not meant to destroy him, but to draw him closer to Christ.
Reflection & Prayer
🙏 Lord, I may not understand my struggles, but I trust that Your grace is enough. Use my weakness to show Your strength. Help me to rely on You, knowing that You are working all things for my good. Let me boast not in my own strength, but in Yours. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Final Thought
🌿 Your thorn does not define you—God’s grace does.
When you feel weak, know that His strength is carrying you.
