📖 Devotional: Psalm 121 — My Help Comes from the Lord

🌿 Key Passage

Psalm 121

“I lift up my eyes to the hills—
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.”

🧭 1. Looking Beyond the Problem

The psalm begins with a question:

“Where does my help come from?”

The writer looks to the hills—often places of uncertainty or danger—but quickly answers:

👉 My help is not in the hills…
my help is in the Lord.

🛡️ 2. God Is Your Keeper

Repeated throughout the psalm is this word: “keeper.”

God:

  • Watches over you
  • Protects you
  • Stays near

📖 “He who keeps you will not slumber…”

👉 God never gets tired.
He never misses what you’re going through.

🌞🌙 3. Protection Day and Night

“The sun shall not strike you by day,
nor the moon by night.”

This means:

  • In the obvious dangers (day)
  • In the hidden fears (night)

👉 God is present in both.

🚶‍♂️ 4. God Guards Your Journey

“The Lord will watch over your coming and going…”

Whether:

  • You’re starting something new
  • Walking through uncertainty
  • Or just living daily life

👉 God is actively involved in your journey

❤️ 5. What This Means for You

  • You are not alone
  • You are not unprotected
  • You are not forgotten

Your help is not in:

  • Your strength
  • Your resources
  • Your control

👉 Your help is in the Lord Himself

✨ Simple Truth

The God who created everything
is the One who watches over you personally.

🙏 Reflection Questions

  • Where am I looking for help right now?
  • Am I trusting God—or relying only on myself?
  • Can I rest in the truth that He is my keeper?

🙏 Closing Prayer

Lord,
When I feel overwhelmed,
help me lift my eyes to You.

Remind me that my help
does not come from what I can see—
but from You, the Maker of heaven and earth.

Watch over me,
guard my steps,
and give me peace in knowing
You never sleep,
and You never leave.

Amen.
